Main Slate Rundown 🏈

The college football regular season is in the rearview and we move onto Championship Saturday! This also means that this will be our last chance to enjoy a “normal” CFB DFS slate until next season rolls around. There will be a few decently-sized bowl game slates in the weeks ahead but the numerous amount of players that will inevitably enter the transfer portal combined with players opting to enter the NFL Draft (and forego their team’s non-marquee bowl game) will add quite a bit of extra randomness to the DFS side of things. So we’ll have 16 teams putting it on the line in hopes of chasing down a conference championship this Saturday! And, for the first time all season, the DraftKings and FanDuel Saturday main slates will align with all of the same games! This slate will kick off at noon ET and the final games will begin at 8 ET. By this time, you’re probably well aware of how late injury news breaks in CFB so make sure you’re prepared to late swap players in/out of your lineup(s) if necessary!

Teams don’t make it to their respective conference championship game unless they’re formidable foes so we aren’t going to see a ton of blowouts or extreme mismatches this Saturday. That being said, there will still be a certain group of teams that we’ll want more exposure to than others. Ten teams currently own a 24+ implied point total and we’ll end up wanting most of our DFS plays to come from those following teams:

On the flip side, we’ll want very little exposure to teams who are expected to struggle to crack the 20-point threshold. And let’s just go ahead and say “no Iowa Hawkeyes” in our lineups, okay? Unless a specific player is priced down and is guaranteed high volume, we should lean toward avoiding these three teams on the slate:

Best Game Stack Environments

These are the main slate match-ups that project to be both tightly contested, by CFB standards (< 10 point spread), and high-scoring (50+ over/under). Consider stacking these games on both sides in hopes of a back-and-forth shootout.

  • Boise State (-2.5) vs. UNLV | 60.5 O/U

  • App State vs. Troy (-5) | 53 O/U

  • Georgia (-5) vs. Alabama | 55 O/U

Obligatory: Vegas spreads and totals aren’t the be-all, end-all but they do give us a solid amount of information to use as our research ‘jump-off point’ on any given slate.
