Main Slate Rundown šŸˆ

Week six arrives with another loaded college football Saturday ahead! As usual, weā€™ll be focusing on the 12-game DraftKings main slate which will kick off at noon ET. For FanDuel players, there will be eight mutually shared games with the DK slate, so plenty of info in this weekā€™s CFB newsletter should be of some assistance to you as well. This sets up as a fun Saturday with plenty of potential shootouts, so letā€™s get into the action, and best of luck!

Here is a look at the 14 teams with a 27.8+ implied point total on this slate. The majority of our preferred DFS plays will be found on these rosters:

On the flip side, weā€™ll want little-to-no exposure to teams who are expected to struggle to crack 20 points. Unless a specific player is priced way down and is guaranteed high volume, we should lean toward avoiding these six teams on the slate:

Obligatory: Vegas spreads and totals arenā€™t the be-all, end-all but they do give us a solid amount of information to use as our research ā€˜jump-off pointā€™ on any given slate.

Main Slate Match-Ups

Quarterbacks to Consider

QB options at various price points.

Jayden Daniels, LSU | $9,000 | @ MIZZ

Daniels erupted for 50.46 DKFP against Ole Miss last week, racking up five total TDs, 400+ yards passing, and fell a yard shy of 100 yards rushing. He is now averaging 40.6 DKFP/gm over the last four weeks and provides arguably the highest floor of any player on this slate. The LSU Tigers will travel to face an undefeated Mizzou team, but LSU remains six-point favorites in a game that possesses a slate-high 65.0 over/under. Expect good things for Daniels against an 88th-ranked Mizzou pass defense. His $9,000 price tag may be steep, but Daniels is still under-priced at that salary.

Brady Cook, MIZZ | $7,400 | vs. LSU

It may be a good idea to load up on both QBs in this game. The LSU pass defense has been extremely vulnerable and ranks 108th in the FBS, allowing 260.2 pass YPG to go along with a 13.3 yards per completion average. Brady Cook has been excellent this season, even more so over the last four weeks where he has averaged 324.0 pass YPG, 2.5 pass TDs/gm, and 28.7 DKFP/gm. Cook has yet to throw an INT this season and has completed 74.5% of his passes. Heā€™s not a QB that is a major threat to pick up significant yardage with his legs but he does have three rushing TDs on the season. Not to take away anything from their perfect 5-0 record, but Mizzou has faced a fairly soft schedule up to this point. LSUā€™s defense is not a big worry but they do have the offensive firepower to force Cook and Mizzou into a pass-heavy game script. Cook brings strong upside to lineups with his $7,400 salary.

Kyron Drones, VT | $5,400 | @ FSU

Note: Keep an eye on the status of QB Grant Wells (ankle/questionable), Va Techā€™s starting QB who has been out since week two.

It seems as if Grant Wells isnā€™t 100% just yet so the current expectations are that Kyron Drones will make a fourth consecutive start. Va Tech is a massive +24 point underdog to FSU and they own a lowly 14.3 implied point total. Normally itā€™d be a spot to avoid all Va Tech players but, at $5,400, Drones is going to have some appeal as a value QB2 (Super Flex) on this slate. Drones can almost be viewed as a high-usage running back that has passing upside. In his three starts, he has averaged 19.3 rush attempts per game with four rushing TDs. He hasnā€™t crushed it through the air, averaging just 192.7 pass YPG in three starts, but he has thrown four TDs against one INT. Va Tech scored just 17 points against Marshall two weeks ago but Drones still posted an impressive 24.9 DKFP that week. So, if the Hokies can just outperform expectations slightly, Drones will have plenty of potential to return value on this affordable price tag.

Other QBs to Consider

Cameron Ward, WSU | $8,600 | @ UCLA

Quinn Ewers, UT | $8,500 | vs. OU

*John Rhys Plumlee, UCF | $7,900 | @ KU

Jason Bean, KU | $6,700 | vs. UCF

*John Rhys Plumlee has been out since week two with a leg injury but is currently expected to suit up on Saturday.

Wide Receivers to Consider

WR options at various price points.

Luther Burden III, MIZZ | $6,900 | vs. LSU

Burden is having a breakout junior season and currently leads the FBS in receiving with 644 yards through five games (128.8 YPG) and five touchdowns. He had commanded an incredibly elite 36.1% target share and, for some reason, still carries a sub-$7k DraftKings salary. Burden will be mega chalk but tough to avoid him in such a prime match-up with an LSU defense that has surrendered 47.2 FPPG to WRs this season.

Malik Nabers, LSU | $6,500 | @ MIZZ

This game will also feature the nationā€™s second-leading receiver, Malik Nabers, who trails Luther Burden by 19 yards receiving on the season. Nabers has seen the same number of targets (53) as Burden, has three fewer receptions, and also had five TDs. Mizzou has also allowed 46.1 FPPG to WRs in their last four games so theyā€™re nowhere close to being an elite pass defense. Iā€™ll be starting a lot of my lineups by locking in Burden and Nabers along with at least one of the QBs (Daniels or Cook). Ownership will be high on all of these core LSU/Mizzou players but itā€™s setting up as ā€œgood chalkā€ and it wonā€™t be difficult to just differentiate elsewhere.

Xavier Worthy, UT | $6,300 | vs. OU

Weā€™ve yet to see a ceiling game out of Worthy this season but he has shown a rock-solid floor, scoring at least 12.5 DKFP in all five games. The Longhorns have not had to force the pass much this season but, in their most competitive game (week two @ BAMA), Worthy commanded a season-high 10 targets. Texas will likely need to keep its foot on the gas for all four quarters against an evenly-matched Oklahoma opponent in what should be a high-scoring affair.

Tyler Brown, CLEM | $5,300 | vs. WAKE

There are some injury implications attached to this play. Clemson WR Antonio Williams (ankle) has missed the last two games and is questionable to suit up in week six. With Williams out of the picture, freshman Tyler Brown had a breakout performance last week against Syracuse, catching 9-of-11 targets for 153 yards while taking one carry for 23 yards. Clemson WRs are in a stellar match-up against Wake Forest, who has allowed 201.5 YPG and 49.7 FPPG to WRs this season. If Antonio Williams suits up, Iā€™ll still have some interest in Brown, but not nearly as much.

Devontez Walker, UNC | $3,000 | vs. SYR

ā€˜Tezā€™ Walker was a key transfer portal acquisition for UNC as he came over from Kent State, but he was ultimately denied a waiver to play for the 2023 season. In a surprise turn of events this week, Walker was granted eligibility by the NCAA after new information came to light. Walker was expected to be UNCā€™s top wide receiver entering the season. He has been practicing with the team throughout the week and is expected to suit up this Saturday. Even if he does not play a full complement of snaps right out of the gates, he is a clear value target at his stone minimum $3,000 salary. He has one of the best QBs in the country throwing him the ball in Drake Maye, and heā€™ll draw a plus match-up against a Syracuse defense that has allowed 43.7 FPPG to WRs in their last four games.

Other WRs to Consider

Marvin Harrison Jr., OSU | $8,900 | vs. UMD

Emeka Egbuka, OSU | $7,800 | vs. UMD

Keon Coleman, FSU | $6,700 | vs. VT

Brian Thomas Jr., LSU | $6,100 | @ MIZZ

Josh Kelly, WSU | $6,000 | @ UCLA

Kobe Hudson, UCF | $5,600 | @ KU

Adonai Mitchell, UT | $5,400 | vs. OU

Jaheim Bell, FSU | $4,300 | vs. VT

Carlos Hernandez, WSU | $3,900 | @ UCLA

Running Backs to Consider

RB options at various price points.

Jonathan Brooks, UT | $6,700 | vs. OU

The Red River Rivalry sets up as a promising DFS target with Texas being -5 favorites and the game owning a lofty 60.5 over/under. Jonathan Brooks has separated himself as the clear RB1 in the Longhorns backfield in recent weeks. Over his last three games, he has racked up 488 yards rushing (162.7 YPG) averaging 8.1 YPC and scoring four TDs. Heā€™ll go up against a solid OU run defense but the strong possibility of 20+ touches in a close, high-scoring game makes him a prime target. Itā€™s also not as if heā€™s priced way up either -- this $6,700 salary leaves plenty of ā€œmeat on the boneā€ for value.

Devin Neal, KU | $6,300 | vs. UCF

Kansas was out-matched against Texas last week, putting up just 14 points and Neal handled just eight carries. Things should turn around this week in a high-scoring match-up with UCF that features a close 2.5-point spread with Kansas being the slight home underdogs. Neal is averaging 6.8 YPC and 87.8 rush YPG on the season and heā€™s involved as a receiver as well, catching 13 passes for 155 yards in five games this year. UCF has been getting gashed by RBs lately, allowing a slate-high 40.2 FPPG to RBs over the last four weeks. You have to love the price, floor, and upside for Neal this week.

LeQuint Allen, SYR | $5,800 | @ UNC

Itā€™s a bit of a surprise to see Allen priced under $6,000 once again. He has posted at least 19.7 DKFP in all five games this season and has found the endzone at least once every week. He has also recorded six receptions in two of the last three games so, even if Syracuse (+9.5) finds themselves playing from behind, Allen is going to continue being involved either as a runner or receiver. UNC is far from a stout run defense and has allowed 29.2 FPPG to RBs this season.

Montrell Johnson Jr., UF | $5,800 | vs. VAND

Keep an eye on RB Trevor Etienneā€™s ($5,400) status as he is listed as questionable with an upper-body injury. If Etienne is sidelined, it opens up a potential bellcow workload for Montrell Johnson Jr. in a stellar match-up. The Gators are major -18 point home favorites over the lowly Commodores this week so they should have no problems getting a lead and implementing a run-heavy game script. Up to this point, Etienne and Johnson have handled a fairly even workload, and Johnson has some DFS viability even if Etienne suits up. But he could realistically flirt with 25 touches if Etienne sits. Treyaun Webb ($4,300) would also see some decent volume in place of Etienne. Vandy is allowing 165.3 rush YPG and 28.0 FPPG to RBs over their last four games.

Other RBs to Consider

Braelon Allen, WISC | $8,400 | vs. RU

Will Shipley, CLEM | $6,400 | vs. WAKE

RJ Harvey, UCF | $6,100 | @ KU

Omarion Hampton, UNC | $5,700 | vs. SYR

That will do it for this weekā€™s CFB DFS rundown! Best of luck!
